New to me 1969 Ruger Single Six

I finally got around to taking some pictures of my new to me 1969 Ruger Single Six. This gun has been on my bucket list for a long time, but due to the prices that I always saw I put this gun on the back burner's.
I was at my LGS yesterday making a down payment on a Taurus 992 when I saw this Single Six in the display case. I asked about it and the sales person said that it was a single six but it had problems. I asked what the problems were and she told me that you see them. She knows I usually buy pristine guns. I looked at the gun a little bit, some of the bluing was worn off and a few scratches but I did not think it looked to bad and the lockup was very tight, nice smooth trigger and the mechanics seem really in very good condition. The barrel was in very good condition also, I checked the price tag on it and the price was $299. It also came with both cylinders. I really did not know much about the Ruger single six ( history ) but at that price I bought it. I brought it home cleaned the gun up, cold blued some of the worn spots and took the finger nail polish off the entire back sight was covered in it and the rear of the front sight. I then posted the serial number and found out just how nice a find this was. The serial number places this a 1969 production. I am very, very happy with the gun. I called my local gunsmith and found out the he will completely re-blue the gun for a price of around $150. Not so sure if I want to let the gun go for the 2 months back log he has, but a re=blue would sure make this a beauty, not that it isn't already.

Nice find. It will have more value if you leave the finish as is. If you do decide to have it done, have Ruger do it so every thing will be right.

I agree with blue. That's a beauty as is, but if it were mine and I reblued, I'd send it home for the work.

I will probably send it back if I re-blue it. I really, really like this gun. Re-blue is still not out of the question but I may just leave it alone.

Great find. That is a beauty of a gun. Looks like a Super Single Six since it has both cylinders. I wouldn't reblue it the wear marks give it character and personality... In fact go enjoy it and put some more character on it! If you can find the ammo, that is......

Thanks fella's really appreciate the compliments on this gun. I really did not realize what I was missing over the years. I really do Love this gun. I also bought a box of the dreaded Remington Thunderbolt. I hate to shot that stuff but it is all I can find and could only buy one box of 500 at $30. Owch !

greener, it is a sweet as candy. Very smooth and after a little sight adjustment shoot at POA. I absolutely Love the darn thing do not understand the reason for waiting this long to own a gun like this. It's so much fun and relaxing over my auto's

Be very careful, single action revolvers could become habit forming.

Nice looking SA pistol. I personally like SA revolvers as you can tell from my avatar. Not sure I would reblue it or not? Maybe shoot it for a while, then rethink about the bluing. NTL, it's a beauty.
