(another) MK2

I stopped by a pawn-shop a week+ ago and noticed that he had
several Winchester 94 (.30-30 lever) rifles in his rack...
I am more of a Marlin-fan, but realize that Winchester is often
has "more value" due to the factory cutting down on the number
being made (ie. Zero !! ) ... anyway... I decided to make an offer
on the cleaner Win94 in the rack... as we 'haggled' over his need
for profit and me NOT-needing another rifle... I ask if a multiple
purchase would help... he had a MK2-22/45 (BullBbl, 5.5") in the
cabinet... the combined price was acceptable ... so, now I have
a Win-lever to explore and compare to my Marlin...
and (another) MK2

I haven't done anything with either, as yet...
the MK2 is in "nice" shape. has both Mags and the plastic box.
He let me "field strip" it on the counter... I managed to do it without
fumbling too much, so he assumed I know stuff. The MK2s are
still circulating out there...
I needed (another) MK2 like I need (another) hole in my head... ;)
It has had a "few K" rounds thru it. just some "use wear" not damage.
A good cleaning and lube and I'll have another of the best .22LR pistols made.

It (dis)assembled with my bare hands: no leverage needed on the Main-Latch
nor a mallet for the receiver. It fits snug with no binding.
Nothing much to report in this rambling post...
have a safe/happy 4th holiday, ya'll

PS: BullsEye... best of luck with moving to a new server/ISP...
and thank you for your efforts to provide this forum for our addic<<<< Hobby.
I'd noticed the delayed-svc-responses, but just assumed that you
had tweaked the response to thwart the Spammer-wannabees
as a means of out-frustrating their efforts...

Congratulations on your new prize. I like the 22/45 (Mark II version) too.

I'm also pleased to see that you haven't floated downstream with all the flooding there in Texas. I guess there's no need to be watering the roof this year, since the weather's doing it for you! I figured you'd be investing in floatation devices rather than firearms. Hopefully you won't need to figure out how much length is a cubit.

I'm switching due to degrading service and increasingly slower access time from my forum server. Waiting two to three minutes for a page refresh is unsatisfactory, expecially with high-speed internet access. There's alot of customer complaints on this particular host, all with basically the same gripes I have with them. The writings on the wall, change or suffer. My biggest task is backing up all the forum files, the slow access is also affecting my downloading the files. Once I get that done, the change will take place.

Take care, and go shoot that new pistol.

It is thundering/raining as I type...
this is the MOST-AMAZING "Texas Summer" I've seen !!!
and I was speechless at the summer of 1980... 69+ days over 100F !!
and the summer of 2000(?) with almost 100 days without measurable rain !!
I am thankful that my area is not prone to water flows...
(basically NE-Tarrant Co... between downtown FtWorth and DFW airport)
I guess when you get "old"... you've seen a variety of weather patterns...

Backup: just save the "important" postings and it'll only take a few minutes ;)

I did give the P512 a quick clean/lube.. it's all oily now, waiting for some
to seep down into the cracks & crevaces that need a little attention...

I've seen some pretty amazing weather patterns too. But I have lived in many places around the world. One of the most amazing was the monsoon season in Southeast Asia, I couldn't imagine how much rain fell, and for how long, it was like someone was pouring it straight from a bucket. It was just one of those things you just had to experience to understand. But the 20" rainfall in one day in Texas was probably very much like it.

Backing up this forum's files is much more than the postings, it also includes the web help pages and the photo library. This forum actually has a lot of files to it just to make everything run smoothly. I think the images are the ones that are crashing, it takes a lot of time to download all of them.

I wish the pawn shops around Richmond had the deals you seem to find in TX, Toy. I guess the bright side is I don't have the opportunities to incur the wrath of SWMBO.

As I travel to "other parts of TX", I often will pass some time in a PawnShop
and it seems that the Pickins are better around here...
Not sure why that is, but I'll try to keep my complaint-level down... ;)

Hope you are keeping dry and getting your move under way. My oldest son recently moved to Munich Germany. He has distributed his belongings between his summer place on the lake in th UP of Michigan and his winter place in Steamboat Springs, he live in CO for about 15 years. He will spend most of his time in Germany and hop back and forth until he retires in about 6 years.
No such thing as guns in pawn shops here in MI, big troubles years ago with illegal sales forced the state and the ATF to legalize them out of the gun sales business.
