New and Improved Walther P22

Post by greener » Tue Oct 17, 2017 9:49 am

Just watched the 22 Plinkster review of the Walther P22. Too little, too late? Fixes they should have done a long time ago.

They seem to have made some cosmetic changes, put in a decocker and changed the recoil spring. The latter may be the fix they needed. Out of the box about 10 years ago, mine had some jamming problems, scraped the alloy slide badly enough to leave shavings and wasn't particularly easy to shoot accurately. The pistol needed a different extractor. Plinkster didn't mention any of those problems or fixes. His demo did show fairly accurate shooting and no failures with a variety of ammo. So, better.

Is the new P22 as good as the Ruger SR22?

I haven't been a fan of the Walther P22 either. They may have all made the needed modifications to improve functioning but like you it is far too late to convince me. I did notice there was a comparison YouTube video on the SR22 and the P22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msW29zP6E7I You may have already seen it but I thought it might provide a few answers you're seeking to the question.
