Here's the "finally" product ...........OK, so far!
Got the holster done but not without some excellent help.
This was NO walk in the park. However,I'm very happy with the results.

Thanks to this great forum, Bullseye and the original unknown contributer on this subject I was able to create this holster which works perfectly with my MKII.
A special "shout out" to Mrs Dawg without whom this project would have never been accomplished.

Looks pretty good! You wanted a holster for your scoped Ruger and that's the way to make it happen.

Good job! Now you have some excellent experience to pass on when someone asks about a holster for their scoped Ruger.

Yeah JJ that's what I'm thinking too! I discoveered the fun of the MKII late in the game but better late than never as they say.
Hopefully it'll be useful in dispatching ground sqweaks at the appropriate range.

Right now all I'm thinking from looking at that picture is 5 minutes of elevation and a no wind zero.

I really like the modification for a Red Dot and have been contemplating adding a Red Dot to my lil MK II 3.5" bbl so I can actually hit something with it and this holster will be ticket.

That's a pretty good job, my compliments to the lady in charge.

You might consider making and selling 'em.

What I can't understand is why Michael's of Ore./ Uncle Mike's doesn't offer this modified version of their #14 Sidekick.

Yeah, I finally had to put on the red dot our store this guy away for posterity. Now I'm like a kid in a store. It's fantatic fun.

SD - I've had deer walk up on the firing line in the middle of a highpower service rifle match in Oakland, CA. There's a ravine between the firing line and the targets and the deer came up over the rise about 50 yards from the firing points, none were harmed, an immediate cease fire was called but one wonders why the deer walked up in the middle of a long firing string with 20 points blazing away.

Probably the strangest cease fire that happened once was having a cease fire last several hours for Buffalo strolling across the range and impact area at Camp Pendelton.

Oakland? Was it Chabot? Buffalo in Oceanside?
Well tomorrow I'll be printin' paper with this MKII & dot. Up to now it's just been shooting a small stump from 25yds just to get the feel.
I'm curious to see what it will do off my shooting bench with a rest.
I won't be in the pictured area but at a ranch with cattle that just love to form a welcoming committee everytime I show up.
With a little help from a good dog I should be clear.

Why, yes it was Chabot. The KD Highpower rifle range is 200 yards long, covered, and crosses over a little wooded valley to the target pits. The deer like to roam around the valley and are used to shots being fired ovehead. It still is unnerving to see a couple of deer pop-up over the hill right in front of you in the middle of a string.

There's no buffalo roaming free in oceanside but the Federal Wildlife Management Dept. has quite a large herd on the Camp Pendelton base. They tended to roam a lot back in the 1980's and frequently would graze the around the weapons ranges. Being federally protected, the range went immediately cold until the wildlife guys could round them up and chase them off. Trying to get a buffalo to move with a pick-up truck is a rather interesting sight, they tend to want to go their own way. To make matters worse, one of the wildlife guys got his truck stuck up on the back of the berm in the impact area, so we were even further delayed waiting for them to pull it out of there.

Well, I finally got to spend some quality time with my MKII
I'm embarassed to say this gun was a gift from my wife back in 1984 and had until recently less than fifty rounds thru it. I guess back then my boys and I were into the .22 pumps and 1022's. That's a weak excuse! I'm just plain ashamed!
It was a beautiful day...maybe a little hot but very nice!
I set up my varment/target shooting bench and began to get the dot sited in somewhat more precisely than the ballpark adjustments I had made last week when plinking.

OK, I'm not a pistol shooter........ yet,...but I had a ball working with this gun today. Thankfully it didn't seem to hold a grudge for ignoring it all these years!
Here's my targets shot with Federal bulk.
1 and 2 are @ 10yds for siting in.
Then I moved it to 25 yds. #6,#7,and #8 are three shot groups on smaller dots which seemed to help for some reason.
I learned quickly that the dot had to be turned up on this bright day...but the Millet SP-1 had plenty. 1-11 settings .... I started it on 5 but then realized that 7-8 made it possible to see the dot cover my target easily.
I noticed the 1022's in the safe are starting to sweat! Perhaps with cause!


BTW, this guy functioned flawlessly!
