Any reports on the new Ruger 22 Charger yet ? Is is too heavy to shoot from other than a rest/bipod ? I see that the going price is ~ $300.

It's brand new and word has it that the dealers won't receive any until january or feb.
So no one has any yet.

Looks like they are kind of chasing Volquartsen, but with a much cheaper price point.

The gun shop I work in Part-time recieved 5 today. They are going to sell for 299.95. They are a little heavy and will require a 2 hand hold or the bi-pod

Sorry to hear that. I recently bought a MKIII678 and hoped to get a longer barreled pistol. Guess the only option is to look for a used 10" MKII.

Got to handle one at a gunshow today, and didn't much care for it. It's definately a bipod type of pistol. Too long and awkward to carry or really shoot with a two handed hold. Just my opinion, but don't think they will go over well with the average shooter. May be alright for groundhogs and such, but unless the bipod extends far enough that you can shoot from a sitting position, you'll end up prone all the time.

Swoter, Do you think without the bipod and with a light weight plastic stock the Charger would be OK for 2 hand shooting ?

That might help. Never even crossed my mind.
