What to BUY????
I am going to buy another pistol for the indoor shoots. 50 foot targets. What would be a good one to buy that needs no work done to it. Should I go with the Clark ruger, Smith 41 or something in the line of a Pardini or whatever. Also the clark that Gil Hebert sells in the Mark II. We have 2 Mark III's. Should I stay with the Mark III's or is the Mark II more dependable??????? or does it even matter? Advice needed......thanks in advance
Out of the box and ready to roll - you're likely looking at a Smith M-41. They do tend to be ammo finicky but they are one of the best target pistols made in the USA. The newer ones even come pre-drilled and tapped for adding a scope mount. You'll pay a premium price for one of these unless you have some time to look around - there are some good deals out there if you're patient.
The Ruger Mark III's and Mark II's are virtually the same pistol. The main difference is the newer safety additions and the relocation of the magazine release. 98% of the parts in a Mark III are interchangeable with the older version pistols. But as you've already experienced these pistols need some TLC before they are match ready.
Hope this helps.

The triggers in the M41's are great from the factory, plus they are user adjustable for pull weight.
Getting a Pardini/Hammerli/Walther is also an option. These are all fine pistols but they will set you back quite a bit on cash. What kind of pistol competition are you planning on shooting in?

I was under the impression the Smith was only adjustable for overtravel, Not the weight?.. My son and I are shooting indoors now in a league. It is the shoot where you have 20 seconds, then 10 seconds and also 10 minutes. Think it is the Bullseye shooting matches...Not sure.. Do you recommend the pardini over the smith41. Past the point of worring about the money. also please advise the the trigger adjustment of the 41.
I just answered this question the other day on another forum. Here's a link http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/sh ... p?t=209183 The M41 is adjustable for both overtravel and weight.
For ease of use and simple take-down for cleaning I like the M-41 - I have several of them.
Pardini's are mighty fine target pistols. They are 5 shot magazine capacity semi automatic only - this shouldn't be a problem if you're only intending to shoot Bullseye competition with this pistol. The SP model is probably one you should be interested in if you decide to go with this manufacturer.
