I have seen where a MKII can be converted to take a Hogue wrap around. Can the same be done for standard 1911 grips?
If so can someone post a link?

Yes, there is a modification to fit 1911 grips onto a 22/45 frame. It is a permanent alteration and many folks have performed them on their pistols. There's a link on my 22/45 maintenance page, its at the top of the page in the links box- http://www.guntalk-online.com/2245detailstripping.htm
