My wife really surprised me when I figured out she was getting me this for Christmas. She fusses about my once a month range trips, yet buys me another reason to go shoot. Go figure.

I plan to keep it stock. I expected Ruger to have QD swivels on it, but they're fixed, which I really like better. I have installed a DIY sling like my 10/22 RB of thirty years ago got. One inch web, with a Delrin slide. With fixed swivels, it has to be hand sewn on.

I'm still researching scopes. Brands, and whether 4X or 3-9X, leaning to the 4X. Bushnell and then Tasco seem to have the best online reviews. Barska, BSA, and Simmons run 50/50 good / bad. I'd go Weaver or Burris, but can't get my head around a scope costing over half the gun.

I now have all three of my past favorites again. I had a great Christmas.

Glad to hear that, I have had one for a few years now and it is a great shooter, has had a trigger job and the swivels taken off as they inter fer with the rest when shooting from the bench. You only get one range trip a month? I usually get about 3 a week in good weather as the range is only 15 minutes away.

Congratulations on your new rifle. I can't wait to hear how your first range trip went with it.

Congratulations. for scopes look at a Simmons 22 Mag 3x9-32AO
I have two of them they are nice clear scopes for around $60

For about $115 look at the Mueller APV 4.5-14x40AO really a nice scope but a lot bigger physically than the Simmons.

Well, the range trip will have to wait for a warmer weekend, at least above 50 F.

I used a second delrin slide to attach sling to front swivel, so it's removable. I like it better than anything I've seen in stores.

For scopes, I think I'll do the 3-7 X 20 Tasco. Should be okay for paper punching, and only $22. The more standard scopes just look huge on a 10/22.

Extra mags and a few parts coming from Midway this week, then it's up to Mother Nature.

I would go with more scope that that, I have a nice Tasco 2.5-10s42 AoO that I use on some of mine, most havee a larger one that that.
I live in Michigan and if it is above freezing and not much wind, I go yo yje range. Of course the range is only a 12 to 15 minute drive, so I can go andd shoot for 45 minutes or so and come home and get warm and a cup of McAfee on the way home roo.

Here is Sport, my DSP right after I first got it and at the time it has a Tasco 6-24x42AO on it. Presently, I believe it has a Barska 8-32x50AO, all my rimfires have a centerfire SCope on them.

You can never have too much scope for paper punching.

Got to agree with that, use large objectives for their light gathering ability and AO for different ranges. All my scopes are centerfiress, and most re fairly high power adjustable, you can always turn the power down. Being an old clay target shooter, I like to see things happen, with high power scopes, I can watch the bullet hole appear.

I'm kind of like the others, a 3x7 is not enough scope if your going to shoot at 100+yrds. Would be find for 60 yrds. I like the more powerful ones so you do not need a spotting scope to see the holes. I have a 3x9 on my Browning. but I seldom shoot it past 50 yrds.

I'm pleased with the 3-7 X 20 for my needs. Actually, when it rang up $17.87 at K-Mart I bought two. The shelf tag still read $20.99. I haven't mounted one yet, no rush at 29 degrees outside. I have just parked it on top for a look see, and the appearance fits with the carbine size.

I did do some upgrades. I replaced the ring and base screws with stainless allen button head screws. I'm using a Weaver TO-9M mount. It's thinner than the Ruger, so I'll still be able to use the sights with the Weaver tip-off mount left in place.

Trying the scope outside, I like it. The "TV" view is kinda neat, and I'm getting a clear bright image even with overcast, up to 5X. With 3-7X, the exit pupil will be 6.6 to 2.9 mm. That's a good range to handle any light.

I'm hoping I'll get it mounted this weekend. Then first warmer weekend I can go sight it in.
