Old family .22 Rifle

I took an old Sears .22LR rifle to the range yesterday and had a lot of fun with it. Made by High Standard in about 1964, it is model 583.2501.
What makes this inexpensive old plinker special is that it was given to my wife's father upon his retirement from the Army (25years), by his fellow Top Sergeants. They had a small brass plaque engraved and attached.
I never met him, since he died of cancer when my wife was in high school, but I know how close he and she were. It's a clunky, cheaply made, old gun, but it makes me feel proud to be able to shoot this piece of family history. Besides that, it is darned accurate. As usual, however, my wife shoots it better than I do (she shot 3/4" groups or better at 50yd with it).
