2nd SR Match

Post by Hakaman » Thu Jun 16, 2011 4:07 pm

2nd match
5/16/11 Wednesday
OHSF = 79
SRF = 93
PRF = 85
PSF = 167
=========
424

Believe it or not, I am somewhat pleased with the score, as it is approx 40 points
over my last years average. Last year, I was bumbling around trying to learn the
"ins and outs" of SR competition. A few things different this year over last is getting
my reloads honed in, which includes using the same manf brass, 69g Sierra Mathch bullets.
Getting a "Micro Sight" rear sight, and learning some of the tricks, methods, and tips from others.
I have learned there is a lot more to shooting a rifle, especially in league competition.
The 424 that I shot is on the lower end of my leagues scoring average, but that's ok with me.
I was a scoring witness to the shooter next to me, and he for me, he had a 483. I don't think
I will ever shoot that high, but my goal this year is to break 450.

Sounds like you're really enjoying yourself, regardless of the score, and isn't that what it's all about

Working on your positions will improve your overall scores. Right now I see the standing slow fire stage as a prime candidate for improvement. Refining this position will bring your scores up very close to your goals. Dry firing on reduced stationary targets will increase your off-hand hold capability and allow your scores to rise. Then just a few points each in the other stages and your goal is surpassed.

Keep on shooting.

Thanks for your replies. I put a black dot on the basement wall and use that for "offhand" SF practice. I am determined to break 450.
Thanks, Haka

Dots on the wall is a good way to get in some quality dry firing.

This past August, I accomplished my goal of breaking 450 in the SR league.
In 2012, I am raising the bar to ???
