FEEDBACK ON 10mm Caliber-!!!

Post by Hi Ball » Wed Jun 03, 2009 12:31 am

I am needing feedback on those who own or have shot the 10mm pistol caliber. I have been seriously thinking about getting a 10mm GLOCK in the model 29 with double stacked magazine for carry purposes. So any information of advice from those who have been there and done so, I do appreciate. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ball,

I see your location is in Illinois. If you are looking at a "carry" gun I assume you mean for self defense. This would (I hope you never need to find out) 2 legged threats. The 10mm in my opinion is way too much for self defense. I would be concerned about over penetration. Remember YOU are responsible for every bullet that leaves your gun.
There are many other calibers that I feel would serve your needs better.

Also If you will be reloading for this Glock do a search on "glock kaboom." This is a controversal topic but it is something you should be aware of if you are not already.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.

I haven't used the G29 but I do have a G27 (similar frame) in 40 S&W as one of my carry guns. I like the compact frame because it is easy to conceal. The rounds are snappy to shoot but I feel very comfortable with this pistol as a self defense weapon.

Bulleye.....I have 3 Sig Sauer pistols P-226, P-229 & P-239. However, non in my mind will do the job covering all bases that the 29 GLOCK will do in a 10mm caliber.

The wife carry's a KEL-TEC 9mm in hot weather and GLOCK 29 9mm Luger cal in fall & winter months. She simply shoots the 9mm lights out over the previous 40 S&W.....less recoil of course.

I have a G30SF but I much prefer the 10mm round.

Geezer I have 2 GLOCKS in the 10mm caliber, a model 20 (full size) and the model 29 (compact ) which is a carry gun, with back up being my KEL-TEC PF-9 in 9mm Luger using Cor-Bon ammo @ 466-lbs of energy, velocity is 1350fps. It is a handfull in a small pistol!

The other day a good friend of mine, was given the chance to shoot my Glock 10mm full size pistol. He took aim with that model 20 at a gallon plastic milk jug, filled with water. It was placed at 75 yds out. He held the sights 2/3rds up the jug and the 10mm round struck dead center and water went spraying. We used the 155 grn bullet going 1,400fps. Very impressive mind you. :D 8)
