charter bulldog

Post by DeerSpy » Tue Jun 17, 2008 10:15 pm

sad but true, bought bulldog 44spl it fit my hand thought it would be good
CCW so I would have more than one choice.
bought new in the box, took to range first cylinder full triger rough and hard group about 16 inch at 7 yards. looked gun over can't see a thing wrong 2nd cylinder full dubble action this time third round locks up will
not turn cylinder let off triger try again hangs up a little but goes bang
3rd cylinder full looks up twice in five rounds. when dumping out emptys
a half moon shaped piece of copper from my 180gr HP falls in to my hand. e-mail charter they sa send it in, got it back three weeks later
took to range loaded it up aimed oh what is this front sight cocked way
over, and triger hanges up. e-mail charter send it in I did with a note that I woul like a different gun or my money back because it also had gouges in frame that i felt weakend the ftame.
got replacement gun back after about 6 weeks and a phone call.
took replacement gun to range first cylinder full bang 5 times triger a little
rough, 2nd cylinder full bang snap bang bang snap two rounds have dent
in primer but did not go off, it had the strangest pull I have ever felt, hammer comes back about 3/4 way and fells like it cams over then hangs up and then fall forward dubble action, so I try it single action
cocking seam to be ok pull triger and hamer fall forward a little then you pull harder and it will fall all the way but mige not hit hard enough to go bang,
now I would think that charter woul have check for all this on every gun
does any one know a gun smith that can fix charter bulldog to point you could depend on it to go bang when needed or should I just run it through the bansaw before some one gets hurt?

I am sorry to hear that Charter is not providing the quality we
each expect for our purchase. I do hope it can get resolved.
Thank you for taking the time to post your experiences.

it was not $,$$$$.$$ was only 7$$.$$ must have been a sale
went to range and tryed some 180gr RNFP with 4.8gr WW231
did not burn all of powder
I could keep them all in 6 inch bull at 10 yards
think I might try some Tightgroup powder to see if it will burn cleaner
