On the plus side George, look how much you've learned. Really, the little amount of wear that you have pictured on your 1911 is nothing to worry about. Don't get overly concerned over this, your pistols fine. You really don't need a buffer in it at all.

Pretty much to be expected after thinning it out as much as you had to. I use mine at full factory width, the spring is what eats into the plastic.Georgezilla wrote:Well, the reduced thickness shock buff did not buff much of the shock It pretty much fell apart after less than 50 rounds.
Here is a picture of the buff if anyone is interested:

There ya go, I had to do a little research to find one first, This one has a sharp corner and you can stone or file on any radius you want, this is not a drop in part and will take some fitting. I got mine from a friend on a 1911 forum the guy is an expert on 1911's goes bye the screen name of 1911Tuner, an ex marine I believe who really knows the gun. I got mine from him seversl years ago.

With my handloads, I use a 14 pound spring, the small radius stop and a shok buff, it works for me others opinions may vary.SShearer wrote:Thanks, that answers my question. I might have to get one and tinker with it and see what happens.
