Which do you like better for shooting accuracy, comfort, ergonomics, trigger characteristics, and quality:
Glocks or XD's (XDM's) ?

I personally am more comfortable with the Glocks over the XDs. The triggers are the triggers but the rest of the feel and controls are good for me with the Glock models.

I like the Xd better I like the trigger better than the glock an the grip safety like the 1911 is nice. I have a compct XD40 and it fits me better than a glock 27. but other than personl preference they are pretty much equal.

XD - for two reasons:

-1- I like a grip interlock
-2- The ergonomics engineers at GLOCK may have never seen a human hand, as far as I can tell

But whatever fits your hand is fine, I would buy either used for a discount, both are superbly durable and reliable.
If you're shopping for a new toy, don't forget that most any rental range will have examples of both of these major manufacturers in the rental case, in some caliber.

Haka, it's more which one fits you. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I've fired Glocks and XD's. Both are excellent. The XD's seem to fit and feel better. However, when I went through the which one exercise, I ended up with an M&P. All a matter of preference.

To tell you the truth, I have wanted to get a Glock for a while now. I have sold my Beretta and am looking for a new 9mm hg. I have been thinking of the Glock 34 but I have read stories of the Kb factor. It is starting to make me a little hesitant. Can you experienced shooters help me out here with some facts and advice, especially with the G34?

There have been a lot of kabooms with Glocks but not many with the 9mm models. Most come from the use of reloaded ammo and the unsupported Glock barrel chambers. I take a Glock 19 any day ,every time. I had xd 9 and its a good gun but I wouldn't grab it first when the time comes. ymmv....

When I went to choose a new gun for IDPA I was toying around with a friend's Glock 17. I never felt that the gun was friendly to my hand size and often as not it proved to be a problem to me. I shot a couple of IDPA matches and we had a "Glock Boomer" occur and it weren't pretty. The shooter had some hand injuries (minor) but I want to tell you every Glock shooter was a bit spooky the rest of the morning. He didn't use reloads but factory brass, the gun was not an old gun according to him and didn't have a high count. But the grips were split and the mag was blown away with the shroud kinda torn up. I was introduced to the Springfield XD9 and it was love at first sight. Great grips and trigger, a really tight gun, and a pleasure to shoot. Right out of the box and a couple of full mags of ammo the gun has performed flawlessly and it likes my reloads---what more can I ask?. And BTW this is my first post to the forum and it looks like it might be a winner for me at least. "Doc"

The only thing I hear neg about the XD
is that it's hard to perform after market
upgrades? and the availability of parts?
I'm not sure of the validity of either statement
though. I know a lot of people like 'em.

I shoot a Glock fairly well but do not like the feel of the gun. I prefer my Sig P229-9mm.

Welcome to the forum, Doc. The XD9 is a nice shooter. It was a tossup between that and the M&P for me.

PS: Artillery is the King of battle because it puts the balls where the Queen wants them.
