SA Range Officer

I'm thinking of making the jump to a CF pistol. I've shot some 1911s and I like the platform. What do you guys think of this new Springfield pistol? It goes for around $750 and has Made in USA markings (though the frame is Brazilian).

It would be for the range and something to carry camping.

I like the Adjustable Sights, the Beavertail, and the Match Barrel.

What do you think?

I would like to have one for a back up to my range pistol. I been looking at the R1 Remington, and a government size Rock Island also. Almost forgot the Para GI Expert. Just checking them all out. :)

Springfield makes a good product. I've built a several match guns with their frames and slides. That pistol has a lot of nice features included for a production gun at $750. I don't care much for the beavertail safety but I know a lot of other folks do so that would be a plus for them.

Many of the good 9mm's will sell for $200 less and 9mm is less expensive to shoot than .45, however, if I had my druthers, I druther have a 1911 before I had a 9mm.

I like the adjustable sights and my eyes are way past being able to use the GI sights.

You might want to look at the Taurus and the RIA/Armscorps 1911's as well as the Springfield Mil Spec. However, the Range Officer looks pretty good.
