I have a question.

When I inspect a firearm at a gun shop or anywhere else, I always ensure it is unloaded for myself, even if the clerk/owner just did it... I've never asked permission to conduct a safety check, nor have I thought it necessary to obtain permission to perform a safety check, and no one has ever asked me to not cycle an action to ensure it is empty. With a safety check on anything, I think redundancy is required.
Fired the PARA LDA (3.5" (?) barrel). Gorgeous trigger ~3#. First and last shots felt the same. BTW. The owner brought it over with the mag in one hand and the pistol in the other. When I cleared the pistol, he didn't act a bit offended. I suspect he might have been taken aback if I hadn't.bgreenea3 wrote:para ordinance make a gem of a DA 1911. trigger feels like a light da revolver.

as long as you have a plan Haka, thats the important part.Hakaman wrote:That's the way I see it. In more serious situations, I step it up a notch, and chamber one. It's not a 100% fail-safe method, but it's mine. Not but one person you have to satisfy.
Haka, you are the first person you have to please and the most important one, any one else comes last or second.

I always keep the hammer/striker dropped on my weapons while in storage..
With a 1911 that has one in the chamber the safety would be applied & left at the ready..
You do have to have a plan & stick to it & ALWAYS ASSUME that every gun is loaded until you have check to make sure TWICE that it is unloaded before handling..Unless your ready to shoot!!

Colt made a great DA/SA auto, the "Double Eagle".
A Double Eagle in 10mm is hard to beat. - An excellent design that never gained much popularity.
I dunno why... Of all the 10mm autos I tried, it was by far the best of the lot.
Traded mine off, to my lasting regret.
They made them in .45 ACP as well, but I never tried one of those.
