m&p 22

Post by bgreenea3 » Thu Sep 22, 2011 4:28 pm

Anyone see a m&p 22 pistol from smith and wesson yet? not the AR lookin' one but the one that resembles the M&P 9/40/45/357sig style. I have yet to see one in person.....

I've only "seen" them on the net. They look like the centerfire M&P's and have gotten pretty good reviews. They do not have the changeable backstraps. I saw one photo with the slide removed. It looks identical to the P22. The pistol is made by Walther (Umerex?) the same folks who make the P22.

I plan to nose around for one, but the price would have to be pretty good to tempt me.

It looks exactly like my S&W m&p Pro 9mm, one of my favorites because of accuracy. It fits my hand perfectly, which is accomplished by the interchangeable backstraps. I like the largest of the backstraps for me. As far as a 22lr semi auto, they can be finicky on what ammo you use. I have a SIG Mosquito that ONLY likes CCI ammo, and fails with other ammo. The failures are mainly "failure to extract". CCI ammo seems to mic a little smaller in diameter. The price seems reasonable for the Smith $419 manf sug'd.

Still haven't seen one around Richmond. I haven't looked all that hard. There is a gun show next weekend. Maybe someone will have one.
