I get what SA, DA/SA, and DOA means but what does striker fired action mean? I read it on some of the new models on S&W autoloaders.

A striker is a highly tensioned firing pin. This pin is released by the trigger and the spring tension drives it into the cartridge for detonation. This style of handgun action uses no hammer to drive the firing pin only spring tension. Basically the mainspring is located on the firing pin. It is basically operating like a bolt action rifle. The striker can be cocked by the trigger action, the slide, or a combination of both like how Glock pistols operate.

O.K. gotcha Bullseye. Is the trigger pull on these pistols as light as most single action guns. And also do they hold up well?

Striker springs can wear out. It depends on the pistol and the system. I like to release the tension when not in use or for long term storage. Replacement springs are not hard to get and relatively easy to install.
