Have you looked at my post about replacing the sear spring pin?
I've been waiting to hear your pro/con idea on this.
I talked to a couple of guys at Ruger while I was ordering parts and both said it sounded like a mod that Ruger should make. Or at least lower the pin in the frame and put a slightly longer lower leg on the spring to completely do away with the problem.

Yes I did look at it Jack. This modification looks do-able but there is another consideration when contemplating this kind of alteration. If somone has the Mark III parts installed, the other side of that pin is used to secure the magazine safety return spring. If that side of the crosspin wasn't there in a Mark III this could affect the operation of the magazine safety hook. It doesn't appear to me to have a large impact but I need to do some more testing to fully evaluate this situation.

If Ruger decided to lower the pin in the frame then they'd have to lengthen both spring legs to reach the new location. That is still a viable solution to reduce the hammer strut hang-up problem but the remedy would just effect another part.

You are right. I forgot about the mk111 parts cause I'm working on a mk11. At least it looks workable on the mk11.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
