Where is everybody?
It looks like all the MK pistol problems have been solved.
Very few posts here or on the MK111.org site in the last week so all must be right with the shooting world.
I guess I'll have to get back into my tinkering and break something just to have an excuse to stir up some interest.

Much of the usual traffic has been directed to the Guntalk-Online maintenance pages. I'm seeing more "Thanks, your Web pages solved my problem" posts, than "Help I can't get my MarkIII to work" posts. Which is fine by me because I do grow tired of answering the exact same questions day after day.

Jack, you would probably do that. Go out and shoot and get those thought out of your mind, and make it easy on our friend Bullseye.boomer47 wrote:It looks like all the MK pistol problems have been solved.

You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Len,
I'm about tinkered out for right now. I'm gonna have to get a new toy as I have gone about as far as I can with the latest MK11678GC.
My latest mod on that one, replacing the sear spring pin with a small screw, works like a jewel.
No more trapping the hammer strut behind the pin, just pull the mainspring housing and shake the bolt out no matter where the hammer is.

Sounds like a winner to me, Jack probably a #4-40 or #5-40 screw if I remember the size of the pin and my old mechanic mind is still working. I am getting tinkered out with the scoped guns too, seem to have them working properly now that I learned how to properly adjust a scope.boomer47 wrote:Len,

Might upgrade the 2.5 to 10X to a 6 to 24 X and have the same scope on both guns. The 8 inch barrel and the 5-1/2 inch shoot about the same degree of accuracy but the shorter one may be a little better, more play time will tel So far Winchester T22 target seems to group well enough to suit me and the price is not too bad either. Going to meet some guys at the range Wednesday moronic and shoot some bowling pins against the timer, have not done that in many years. Had a couple of trial runs last week without the timer and the all went down in 5 shots fro 5 pins. Tonk 6 one time and remembered the proper pin shooting system, shoot all 5 then see if thee are any left standing. Wasted a shot on one run by hitting the same pin twice just as I touched off the second shoot you could see it falling over. Added a 10th of a second or so to my time. Must not get anxious when pin shooting with .22LR sometime that spin a little before the fall over and the time ends on the last shot.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Len,
Yeah,as best I remember it is a 4-40x1/4 screw, I'd have to go break it down and look to be sure.Keeps the long leg of sear spring right where it is supposed to be.
I wish I had a place to do the range time you do but I'm locked in.My home was in the boonies a few years ago and I could set up and shoot in my back yard. But now I have an Interstate highway about 50 yards off my back door and have been annexed into a city with a "no shooting inside the city limits" law and the only range around here that I know of wants $150.00 to join and another $125.00 a year and thats an open air range that I've been told is flooded and/or muddy a lot of times.
I think I'm going to sell all my guns and take up golf or knitting. Seems to be about the only thing you can do anymore that is ok in most places.
I just re-read your post and saw the mention about scopes. I just put a Bushnell 2-6X on that 678GC and it sure seems to be a fine piece of glass. Maybe I'll get out and burn some ammo with it later this week.
A friend has a place out in the country and I'm trying to get him interested in shooting so maybe I can come up with a place to do some shooting.

Jack, better take up knitting, I gave up golf years ago ass there is no game more frustrating in my opinion. Got home from golfing many years ago and was in my normally foul mood after a rotten day at the links. Wanted to play so bad and I really did that, PLAYED VERY BAD. Ma said, " I thought you played golf to have fun?" That was the last Aime I played the game, got back into shooting and it is a game I can play and still keep up with or beat the youngsters at.
Yes, my range under the new owner is a good deal/ At $130.00 per year with locker and some other perks and then range time at $6.00 per visit instead of the normal non member $15.00/hour rate. It's only a half hour away and in a nice area near a couple of decent places to eat that cater to the regular guy.

Every time my wife comments(raises H---) about my gun hobby expenses I just tell her to be glad I never took up golf with all that expense.
If we turned all the golf courses into firing ranges the world be a better place.
