Cheers for the Vets

Post by bearandoldman » Sun Dec 07, 2008 10:08 am

Especially those from WWII, there are not many left anymore.

It was a Sunday morning much like this in 1941, sitting on the floor in the living room listening to the radio, when FDR came on the air and announced that the Japanese had bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii and we had declared War.. Pretty shocking news to a young boy approaching his 9th birthday in a week.
To you youngsters FDR Was, Franklin Delano Roosevelt the President of the United States. Radio was a large wooden box much like an old console TV set with no picture that received AM radio signals.
The world sure has change since the WWII advanced technologies much faster than they would have.
Driving down the rood a while back and my thoughts went back to my youth and though how the dreaded Mitsubishi Zero's had dominated our air power until the Hellcat came into production. Said to myself, hey oldman you are driving a Mitsubishi Montero, how the world has changed. Think a lot of people have Mitsubishi products of some kin in or around their homes.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.
