Learned this morning that Gander Mountain will do a store-to-store firearms transfer for $10. According to the store, you pay for the purchase with the receiving store by phone. If I had known that in December, I would have been a couple Blackhawks "richer".
The Richmond store was pretty friendly. The checkout line went from me to 8 folks while the clerk and I discussed what was on sale and, no, I really didn't want the $10 warranty for the scope. The manager couldn't get the gun department so I got the warranty for free and the discount on the scope.
