Art imitates life

Post by Bullseye » Tue Aug 22, 2006 12:29 pm

I opened the paper today only to see that the comic strip Rex Morgan M.D. was using a drawing copied from a published Internet picture. Here's the strip for 8/22/06.

Here's the original photo that they used as a template.

This picture appeared in Defense Daily Industry on Feb. 23, 2006. It can be seen through Google Images under keywords "Soldier Shooting M-16." http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/gun ... /index.php

Not only did the cartoonist clearly copy the photo, but he erroniously left the grenade launcher's sight in his panel drawing. The sight can be seen in the original photo on the forestock of the M-4 and also in the cartoon picture just in front of the cartridge smoke trail eminating from the weapon. The cartoonist removed the grenade launcher from underneath the police officer's weapon in his depiction for the comic strip, he just negelected to do the same for the M-203 Grenade Launcher's sight.

Things that make you go, "Hmmn!"
