Losing the edge?

Loaded up my Blackhawks, single six and M17 for the range this morning. I intended to go the the range after doing the morning shift for the Virginia Citizens Defense League at the gun show.

During the gunshow, I gave the SP101 .22 ($499) and Ruger SR22 ($269) hard looks, but couldn't get excited enough to buy. Nothing much else lit my fire.

When I left at 1 PM it was raining and I decided it was not a great day to go to the range. I've only been out shooting 3 times this year.

Loosing my edge and need a session with the range doctor?

I think it's a self-correcting thing. All sorts of stuff got in the way during "shooting season" last year.

I've been shooting more times this month than I was all of last year. In fact, I've reloaded more ammo this week than I shot all of last year.

You know you're suffering from severe withdrawal when you sneak down to the reloading room and take nose hits off a can of Unique...

Greener, you got to retire, work is interfering with your fun time. Joe and I got out 3 or 4 times last week. or was it 5?

I've been retired for 8 yrs now. It's amazing how many things gets in the way of shooting. I limit myself to 2 trips/mo when I'm in town at the indoor range. That's 400 rounds of 9mm and 50 45acp, that's all the Ammo I can afford to shoot. When I'm in the country I shoot more but limit the number of rounds so I don't exceed my monthly quota. I don't count 22 ammo in my quota though.

I've had the bug for a full size 1911 (45acp) for sometime now. If I sell my Custom Pyton it will fund it. But if I do that I will need to buy more reloading supplies. Or if I get one in 9mm it will be twice as cheap to shoot. Or should I get 1 of each.

All I've done this year is a one hour trip to the local indoor range I can't stand, to check some Bobcat mods. Lots of 70's and even 80's the last few weeks, but it seems all the weekends are Not good shooting weather???

It poured this whole past weekend, but sun and 75 forecast today. I may go shoot before April is over.........

we've had such a mild winter/spring up here I've been out shooting at least 1-2x a week since february, shooting a lot of rimfire (10/22 and glock conversion mostly) and a bit of ar15 .223 rem.
mostly I've been popping a few caps for an hour or so on the way to work, no long extended trips.

Every growing boy needs at least one 1911. If you reload there isn't much difference between 9mm an .45 ACP cost wise. If you don't, then a .22 adapter (Kimber or Marvel) is a great addition to the 1911.

I already have a Kimber Ultra Carry II (45acp) but I thinks it needs a big brother

It's been flawless right out of the box. I did have one minor problem after it loosened up when I was shooting 230gr Ball ammo. The slide locking back prematurely, the bullet in the mag was hitting the slide lock. The slide lock was replaced and all was well. It never malfunctioned on my carry ammo so it was not a big concern.

I do reload and have become quite fond of my UCII. The 45 pills are a little more expensive, about 60% more the last time I bought bullets. I have enough supplies to carry me through the election year +1, and then hopefully the supply chain will return back to normal. I have been shooting rental guns when I want to shoot full size. I shot a Wilson Combat last time there. Wish they had a Les Baer I could take for a spin.....There is a group of about 4 there every Tuesday morning. All retired having some personal time.....

I finished loading all of my 9mm yesterday. I have enough ready to carry me through the year till it cools back off.
