410 scope

Post by montveil » Fri Dec 11, 2009 4:24 pm

I have a 7.5 pound 410 shotgun and need help on a scope for it.
I'll be using 3 inch shells and wonder what kind of scope to use
Would a 22 mag scope handle thr recoil or do I have to get a shotgun scope?
Any advice would be appreciated

I think most of the scopes I've seen on a shotgun were Dot Scopes. Or some light tubes (3dots like on pistols) for turkey.

I don't know what you plan on doing with the 410 but for most applications a shotgun scope is best. The Parallax and power is set at a range appropriate for a shotgun.

I'm getting my grown daughter her first gun and have chosen a 22lr under a 410 shotgun.
I'm looking for an inexpensive scope for up to 50 yards that will handle the recoil of a heavy 71/2 pound 410. I agree that a parallex of 50 yards would be great.
I have a red dot on another rifle and have to pack an extra battery as I forget to shut it down and fear my daughter will do the same and end up with a non-functioning sight when she needs it
thanks for the replies

You should have no problem with recoil. I used to shoot a lot of skket and sporting clay itth a O?u that was under 7 pounds and a pump that was no more than 6-1//2, the recoil is almost non existant.
You have great day and shoot straight and may the Good Lord smile on you.

Thanks for the help.
I think I'll go with a Truglo diamond compact shotgun 4X32 with parallax at 50 yards. It comes with Weaver rings for $65
