First 500 Gone

Post by manic mechanic » Sun Jan 13, 2008 5:28 pm

Finally got the kids out shooting and after 200 rounds my son is really coming around. My next oldest got 100 rounds down range and she is really liking it alot too. The range was really busy that day, so she and the oldest had to share a lane for an hour. The oldest is really a good shot, she only ran 50 thru it then wanted to shoot the others I brought. She and my son will shoot anything I put in their hands and do well. After all the 22 shooting I start rotating different pistols, XD-40 with a 9mm conversion bbl., Sig P226 in 9mm, Bulgarian Mak in 9x18, and the confidence that little Ruger puts in them shines in how they've improved with the others. The middle one is intimidated by the recoil she sees the other two controlling. She's pretty small for her age, barely 70 lbs. at 14 yrs., but I'm not going to rush her. She has shot 20 gauge at sporting clays a year ago and out shot all the boys we had with us, so she knows recoil, and had a little bruise to prove it lol. Till next report, safe and straight "shootin" now, ya hear!!

Keep encouraging them to be involved in shooting. The sport needs a steady influx of new participants in order to survive.

They will remember these trips for a very, very long time. Good work!
